The Hopes and Dreams of Libby Quinn – Freya Kennedy
Genre: Romantic Comedy
A gorgeous new romantic comedy about taking chances and realising your dreams.
Libby Quinn is sick and tired of being sensible.
After years of slogging her guts out for nothing at a PR company, she finds herself redundant and about to plough every last penny of her savings into refurbishing a ramshackle shop and making her her dream of owner her own bookshop become a reality.
She hopes opening ‘Once Upon A Book’ on Ivy Lane will be the perfect tribute to her beloved grandfather who instilled a love of reading and books in her from an early age.
When her love life and friendships become even more complicated – will Libby have the courage to follow her dreams? Or has she bitten off more than she can chew?
Stories about bookworms and bookshops have a special place in my heart. What can I say – I cannot get enough of books, and neither can Libby Quinn. Her love of books was instilled in her from a young age, when her grandfather used to read to her. The relationship between Libby and her grandfather was an incredibly special one, and sharing their favourite books was an important part of that relationship. Two years after the death of her beloved grandfather, Libby Quinn decides that she is going to open a bookshop called Once Upon A Book in his honour.
As someone who has often dreamt of opening her own bookshop, I was fascinated by Libby’s journey as she refurbishes the run down building which she purchased on Ivy Lane. The fictional Ivy Lane in Derry sounds like the most wonderful street in the world. There is a lovely pub run by the charming Noah and Jo, the corner shop owned by quirky Harry who loves to give Libby his out of date goods (insisting that they are still good, despite the mould), and other wonderful characters who populate this road and help Libby to open the shop. Ivy Lane is it’s own little community, and I actually wish it were real because I would move there immediately.
The Hopes and Dreams of Libby Quinn by Freya Kennedy is one of those feel-good books that is the perfect escape from reality. It is a truly lovely story about chasing your dreams, never giving up, and the importance of friendship. If you also cannot resist books about fellow book lovers, then The Hopes and Dreams of Libby Quinn is the perfect book for you. I cannot wait to see what Freya Kennedy writes next.
Freya Kennedy lives in Derry, Northern Ireland, with her husband, two children, two cats and a mad dog called Izzy. She worked as a journalist for eighteen years before deciding to write full time. When not writing, she can be found reading, hanging out with her nieces and nephews, cleaning up after her children and telling her dog that she loves her. Freya Kennedy is a pen name for Claire Allan, who also writes psychological thrillers.
I’d like to thank Rachel from Rachel’s Random Resources (@rararesources) for inviting me to participate in this book tour.
