Down the TBR Hole #2

Down The TBR Hole is a meme that was created by Lost in a Story. The aim of this meme is to go through your TBR list and remove those books which you know you’re never going to read.

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 or 10 books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books.
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

I did my first Down the TBR Hole last week and removed eight books from my TBR list – a good start. Lets see what I can do this week!

Talking As Fast As I Can – Lauren Graham

Date Added: January 2018

Anyone who knows me in real life knows that I love Gilmore Girls. I have honestly lost count of how many times I’ve seen it, and I’m pretty sure I know some of the episodes by word-by-word. I don’t have a problem… I swear. Anyways, it should then come as no surprise that Lauren Graham’s memoir is on my TBR list. It is actually more shocking that I haven’t read it yet. Here’s the thing though: I’m honestly not the biggest fan of memoirs. So, even though it feels a bit like betrayal, I think I’m going to have to let this one go.

Verdict: Go

A Novel Bookstore – Laurence Cossé

Date Added: January 2018

Oh my god, this book sounds fantastic. Bookstore? Check. France? Check. A bit of mystery? Check. Why have I not read this book yet??

Verdict: Keep

What Happened – Hillary Rodham Clinton

Date Added: March 2018

I added this book to my TBR list after watching an interview with Hillary Clinton in which she talked about this book. While I do think it would be interesting, I really am more of a fiction person.

Verdict: Go

The Identicals – Elin Hilderbrand

Date Added: March 2018

Having just read the synopsis of this book, I am wondering why I put The Identicals on my TBR list in the first place. It doesn’t really sound like the type of book I would enjoy. I must have felt differently in 2018!

Verdict: Go

Anything is Possible – Elizabeth Strout

Date Added: March 2018

Anything is Possible is another book on my TBR list that perplexes me. Why is it here? Not only is it the second book in a series that I have not read (according to Goodreads at least), but I also don’t tend to enjoy short stories. Hmmm…

Verdict: Go

This Is How It Always Is – Laurie Frankel

Date Added: March 2018

Well I definitely know why I added this book to my TBR list: Reese’s Book Club. I haven’t read any of the books from the book club in a while, but I have enjoyed all the ones that I have read. This Is How It Always Is is another Reese’s Book Club pick that sounds incredible. It is definitely a keeper.

Verdict: Keep

The Leavers – Lisa Ko

Date Added: March 2018

Sometimes you just know that a book is going to break your heart. The Leavers by Lisa Ko is one of these books. It sounds phenomenal.

Verdict: Keep

What It Means When A Man Falls From The Sky – Lesley Nneka Arimah

Date Added: March 2018

This is the second collection of short stories that I added to my TBR list in March 2018. Intriguing. While this book does have excellent reviews, I still don’t think it is the book for me.

Verdict: Go

Home Fire – Kamila Shamsie

Date Added: March 2018

The cover of this book is gorgeous. I would not be at all surprised if I added this book to my TBR because of the cover. The synopsis sounds fantastic as well.

Verdict: Keep

The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane – Lisa See

Date Added: March 2018

This is a difficult one. The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane does sound intriguing, but at the same time I’m not entirely sure it is the type of book that I would enjoy. I’m honestly not sure if I would ever actually get around to reading it. Perhaps if I had all the time in the world for reading (the dream).

Verdict: Go

Keep: 4

Remove: 6

Remaining: 152

Are any of these books on your TBR?

xx Claudia
